Relationships and Work Lab
What We Study
-
We study how mentors can promote protégés’ development and inclusion in workplace and academic settings
-
We examine how relationships with others may enhance—or undermine—diversity and inclusion in workplace and academic settings
-
We study how employees and students can leverage their relationships to achieve positive well-being and personal development
Our research focuses on the intersection between relationships and work. Our mission is to use social science to enhance workers’ individual and relational development, inclusion, and well-being.
Our Methods
We use person-centric methods that center workers’ experiences of work and relationships. Our work is guided by the principle of methodological fit—the idea that the methods we choose should be aligned to the questions we ask. We use a variety of methodological approaches in our work, including observational methods, experience sampling methodology, grounded theory methodology, structural equation modeling, multilevel modeling, and dyadic methods. We love to use and learn about new methodological approaches to better address the research questions we are interested in.
